

Victoria E. Donnelly, 89, of Springfield died at 9:05 a.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at St. John’s Hospice. Victoria was born on November 5, 1918 in Bradley, the daughter of Albert and Angeline Gulgziski Kanosky. She married George Donnelly on July 20, 1957 in Gilman. She was a fifty-year member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and regularly joined other seniors in an area in the back of the church. She spent the first twenty-five years of her marriage caring for her disabled son. She was involved in a parents group at the Jacksonville Development Center where she volunteered as a secretary for twenty years. Victoria graduated in 1940 from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Kankakee, where she later worked and also did private duty nursing in the Kankakee area. She had an avid interest in business and the stock market and spent many hours researching this interest at the Lincoln Library. Victoria loved flowers and spent many hours in her yard caring for them. She enjoyed growing fresh garden vegetables and enjoyed cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Mary Gibson, and Helen Huber; and three brothers: John, Joe, and Leo Kanosky. She is survived by her husband: George Donnelly of Springfield; a son: Timothy J. Donnelly of Jacksonville; three sisters: Stella McDermott of Detroit, MI, Bernadine Naumann of Metamora, and Margaret Thorne of Onarga; three sister-in-laws: Evelyn Mellinger, Joan Finney, and Patricia Cross all of Springfield; two brother-in-laws: Frank Donnelly of Mt. Vernon and David Donnelly of Jefferson City, MO; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Parents Group, Jacksonville Developmental Center, 1201 S. Main, Jacksonville, IL 62650, St. John’s Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL 62702, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
