

Violet C. Mudra, 99, of Springfield, died at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at St. John's Hospital. Violet was born August 2, 1914 in Wilberton, OK, the daughter of Domenico and Mary DiGiacomo Nerone. She married Adolph A. Mudra on June 6, 1936 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on May 12, 2011. Violet was a graduate of Ridgely Elementary School and worked for Roland's clothing store prior to retiring from the State of Illinois' Secretary of State Office. She was a member of AFSCME and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Mudra; one great-granddaughter, Michaela Cain; two brothers, Joe and John Nerone; one sister, Grace Nerone; and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Mudra. She is survived by two sons, James and Joseph (wife, Donna) Mudra, both of Springfield; four grandchildren, Michelle (husband, Bob) Cain, Mike (wife, Laura) Mudra, Theresa (husband, Todd) Maggiore, all of Springfield, and Scott (wife, Sue) Mudra of Hartford, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Casey and Caley Cain, David and Alec Mudra, Porter Maggiore, Madeline and Samantha Mudra; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. David S.
