

Walter H. Kuhn, Jr. 82, of New Berlin, died at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012 in Clearwater, FL. Walter was born May 6, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Walter and Ida Lenhart Kuhn. He married Alice Dillard on April 19, 1951 in Springfield. Walter was a graduate of New Berlin High School and proudly served his country from 1951 to 1956 in the United States Army, including the Korean War during 1951 - 1953. He was employed by Fiat Allis for 29 years and Richard Hall Construction for 8 years. He enjoyed working on his farm and was an avid history buff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Kuhn. He is survived by his wife, Alice Kuhn of New Berlin; three sons, Terry (Julie) Kuhn of Rockton, Jerry (Elaine) Kuhn of Springfield, and Benny (Dawn) Kuhn of New Berlin; six grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Adam, Michael, Ryan, and Jonathan; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Marie Diefenback of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating. Military honors will be provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the DOD.
