

He was born on June 30, 1936, in Mooresville, IN, the son of Clarence and Virginia (Sawyer) Moyer. Wayne married Virginia “Sue” Jenkins on July 30, 1976, in Jacksonville, IL. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2018.
Wayne attended Walnut Grove Elementary School in Indiana, graduated from Mooresville High School, and earned his real estate license from Lincoln Land Community College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. Wayne went on to own and operate Wayne Moyer Construction for 40 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion. Wayne enjoyed golfing, listening to bluegrass music, and was a master builder. He was known as a thoughtful, generous, and fair man.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and sibling, Lillian Hacker of Indiana.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Cindy Booker and Teresa Moyer; son, John (Tracy) Moyer; stepson, Jeffry Lanctot, all of Springfield; siblings, Phyllis (Bruce) McDaniels and Ed Moyer, both of Florida; three grandchildren, (Mason and Gavin Moyer, Blake Booker); and multiple step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided.
