

He was born on July 31, 1935 in Springfield, the son of the late Harry and Chloris (Copeland) Young. He married Rose Marie Parker on Nov. 15, 1959 in Springfield and she survives.
Mr. Young was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft electrician on the B-36 Peacemaker. He was a career meat cutter for over 45 years at Humphrey’s Meat Market and Avenue Food Shop and was also employed at Arnold Monument Company in Springfield. Wayne’s faith in Christ was predominant in his life and he was a former active member at Bunn Park Christian Church and Southside Christian Church and attended Cherry Hills Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed building model airplanes and boats.
Besides his wife Rose, he is survived by 3 children, Jeff (wife Donna) Young of Chatham, IL, Pam Hinckley of Loami, IL, and Aaron (wife Jenni) Young of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, David (wife Kylie) Young, Jenna (husband Ryan) Woker, George Hinckley (fiancé Heather Bingham), Melanie Hinckley (partner Dwight Beggs), Paul (wife Kayla) Hinckley, Danielle (husband T.Y.) Young, Mat Young, and Garrett (wife Beth) Young; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother Lee (wife Judy) Young of Washington, IL; a sister Sharon Young of Springfield; and nephews Bob and Mike.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 from 9:30 am until time of the funeral service at 11:30 am. Rev. Brian Wilmarth will officiate. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
