

Wilbur "Will" L. Adams, Sr., 79, of Springfield, died at 6:21 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Will was born January 22, 1938 in DePauw, IN, the son of Leander Franklin "Frank" and Georgia Edith Vaughn Adams. He married Ruth Forness on September 19, 1959 in Springfield, IL. Will graduated from Purdue University. He worked as a pharmacist, and retired in 1996. Will was a member of the Illinois Pharmacy Association and Sherman United Methodist Church, where he was very active on church committees. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and had a special love for animals. He enjoyed taking care of his plants and tending to his yard, and took much interest in current events. His most favorite thing to do was spend time with his wife, and his involvement within the church. Will was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Vaughn Rendell. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Springfield; sons, Wil Adams, Jr. of Springfield and Ken (Jan) Adams of North Oaks, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Caitie) Adams of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Stephanie Adams of Kansas City, MO; brother, Gilbert (Pat) Adams of DePauw, IN; several nieces and nephews; and grand-cat, Maurice. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at Sherman United Methodist Church, 2336 E. Andrew Road, Sherman, IL, with Rev. Mike Pennell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
