

William Ray Tibbs, 73, of Virden, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at his home in Virden. He was born December 22, 1942, in Lincoln to the late Raymond Walter and Helen L. Hurley Tibbs. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrin Casey Tibbs. Bill served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a Teamsters Union truck driver for many years and drove for Farm Services as well as other companies. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Jen (Todd) Tibbs-Berle of Virden; son Aaron Ray Tibbs of Virden; and their mother, Gloria Tibbs of Virden; grandchildren Branden Ray Tibbs, Casey Tibbs, Owen Dee Berle and Jax Berle all of Virden; sisters, Beverly (John) Lamm of Waverly and Patty (Bob) Stickel of Belleview, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Tibbs was the Worthy Patron of Lalla Rookh Chapter 218 Order of the Eastern Star, member of Ansar Shrine, Legion of Honor, Past Master of the Chatham Central Lodge #523 AF&AM, Scottish Rite. OES rites will be conducted at 7pm, Tuesday, followed by the Masonic Lodge rites at 7:20pm. His family will greet friends from 4-7pm, Tuesday, April 12, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, 62629. His Celebration of Life will be held 11am, Wednesday, April 13, at Staab Polk Memorial Home with Paula Staab Polk as Funeral Celebrant. Burial will follow at Virden Cemetery with the Interveterans� Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting Military Honors. Memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO, 63110. Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham, is serving the Tibbs family.
