William L. Hartley, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Washington State, passed away on July 15, 2026 at his residence. He was born on April 15, 1942 in Olympia, Washington to William Hartley and Virginia Lawrence Hartley. Bill married Alice Rippon Macy In Gig Harbor, Washington on August 11, 1990 and she survives.
Mr. Hartley is also survived by one son, Chris Hartley of Springfield, two stepsons: Scott (Laurie) Macy of Seattle, WA., and Mark (Marcia) Macy of Wheaton, five step-grandchildren, three siblings: Claudia (Jim) Thurber of Washington, D.C., Mary (Tod) Jones of Olympia, WA., and Jim (Eileen) Hartley of Poulsbo, WA. and several nieces and nephews.
Bill worked as an Audio Visual Engineer in Seattle, Washington at KING 5 Television and at KOMO News. He moved to Chicago and worked as the Director of Media Services at North Park University. He enjoyed boating and for a time he lived on his boat in Seattle.
Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
