

William E. Hoecker, 74, of Springfield, passed away at 4:25 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2001 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born January 21, 1927 the son of John and Mary Gorman Hoecker in Jacksonville. He married Marguerite Rafferty on September 19, 1953 at Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. Mr. Hoecker was a charter member of Christ the King Church where he served as head usher for many years. He was a graduate of Routt High School in Jacksonville and St. Louis University. Mr. Hoecker was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the Army. He was the former President of the Springfield Association of Realtors. He served on the Real Estate Board of Governor’s for 6 years and was Dean of the Governor’s Board for 4 years. He was a member of the Jacksonville Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Bill Hoecker, Jr. in 1987 and his brothers: Jack and Maurice “Bud” Hoecker. He is survived by his wife: Marguerite; three sons: Gary J. of Springfield, John J. (wife, Roslyn) of Jupiter, FL, and Robert D. of Springfield; two daughters: M. Patryce (husband, Greg) Nussbaum of Bloomington, IL, and Kristina M. (husband, Vic) Lanzotti of Springfield; a daughter-in-law: Barb Hoecker of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; three sisters: Rosiland Mosher of Galesburg, Jean Kantor of Chico, CA, and Peggy Flynn of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who loved him. Friends may call at Christ the King Church from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2001. Funeral Mass will be at Christ the King Church at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2001 with Rev. David Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
