

William was born on March, 5, 1935, in Springfield, the son of Carl T. and Ellen (Leady) Leutenmayer. He married Janet Johnson on June, 21, 1958.
He graduated in 1954 from Springfield High School. William proudly served his country in the Korean War during 1954 through 1958 in the USS Perry 844. He then worked for Franklin Life Insurance for 30 years as an engineer.
William was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Leutenmayer; daughter, Renee Terry; brother, Carl F. Leutenmayer; and sisters, Rosemary Cross, Therese Ann Moore, Carol Watson, and Ellen Cross.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Rosemarie (Rick) Isenhour of Gillespie, Therese Ann (John) Thomas of Springfield, and Charlene (TJ) Heinrichs of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. William also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Gathering and Memorial Mass: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. prior to the Memorial Gathering at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with Rev. Michael Friedel, celebrant.
Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
