

William H. McCain, Jr., 76, of Sherman, died at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Bill was born September 16, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, the son of William H. and A. Marie Borgard McCain, Sr. He married Jean Bruening on June 10, 1961 in Florissant, MO. Bill graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in 1956; earned his bachelor's degree from Quincy University; and his Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan. He was employed with the Department of Public Health and later for the Department of Commerce & Community Affairs until his retirement in 1999. Bill was a member of St. John Vianney Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to Williamsville Bullets activities, camping and outdoor activities, martinis, bargain hunting, anything with technology, and traveling, especially cruises. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Debra McCain. He is survived by his wife, Jean McCain of Sherman; his children, Michael McCain of Petoskey, MI, Michelle (husband, Rick) Race of Charlotte, NC, Mindy (husband, Brent) Dale of Wentzville, MO, David McCain of Springboro, OH, and Dan McCain of Sherman; two grandsons; nine granddaughters, one step-granddaughter; one step-great-granddaughter; sister, Joanne (husband, Bob) Wolf of Evanston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 902 St. John Dr., Sherman with Rev. Msgr. David S.
