

William “Bill” Prochaska, 97, of Springfield died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Heritage Manor. Bill was born January 12, 1908 in Chicago, IL the son of Francis and Josephine Filip Prochaska. Mr. Prochaska served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, 2 Overseas Service Bars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. Bill played in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a violinist. He worked for Kyanize Paints as the Head of Sales in the Midwest for 50 years until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 32, VFW Post 755, and a former member of the Elks. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Frank Prochaska. He is survived by niece: Joann Schaeffer of Chicago, IL; friend: Benny (wife, Shirley) Egnot of Springfield; many great nieces and npehews including: Krystal Klans and Joey Schaeffer and several cousins. Cremation accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Scott Brindley officiating. The Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
