William "Bill" Carl Remmers, 80, of Riverton, passed away at his home on June 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Springfield, Illinois, on May 14, 1945, to Hilko and Blanche (Cording) Remmers.
Bill proudly served in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War era and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 2002.
He enjoyed classic cars, morning coffee with the guys, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Nikki (Steve) Baptist of Riverton, Tracy Rutter of Riverton, and DeAnna Clark of Springfield; six grandchildren, Mackenzie and Macie Baptist, Kaleb and Sydney Rutter, and Riley and Tyler Clark; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Hatch; and brothers, David and Carl Remmers.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery on July 2, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Toys for Tots.
