Wilma Louise Stevens

Wilma Louise Stevens, 81, of Dawson, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord, surrounded by her family, at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital. Wilma was born June 19, 1928 in Loami, the daughter of Fred and Lerna Rowden McCray. She married Albert M. Stevens in 1945; he preceded her in death in 2006. Wilma worked at Hobbs Shoe Factory years ago. She is most known for being a great mom and homemaker. She was a member of DAR and the Teamsters 916 Retirees. Wilma loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in Colorado and on her cabin cruiser in the Florida Keys. She was a member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three sisters, Colleen Cloyd, Doris Spoor and Dolly Mudd. She is survived by her three sons, Nick (Mary) Stevens of Dawson, Michael (Catherine) Stevens of Springfield and Albert, Jr. (Shiryl) Stevens of Tallula; two daughters, Debra (David) Boggs of Springfield and Melissa Stevens of Hiawatha, KS; grandchildren, Mike Stevens, Jr., Ben Stevens, Joe Stevens, Missy Underfanger, Mandy Powell, Wendy Stevens, Clayton Stevens, Savannah Stevens, Nick Stevens, Jr., Tiffany Stevens and Don Daugherty; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, James McCray, George (Mary) McCray, Ed (Evelyn) McCray, and Pete (Mary) McCray; two sisters, Rosie (Ken) Locker and Carmen Spoorer; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield, with the Rev. Richard L. Chiola, celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
