IN THE CARE OF

Demaine Funeral Home

Ann Rourke was known as Ann, Mom, Grandma, Nana, Great Grandma and Aunt Ann. We all loved her. She was born in Wakefield, MA on October 4, 1928 and she was always proud to say that she was the same age as Mickey Mouse. Ann lived most of her married life in Reading, MA, where she raised four children and every one of them lived to tell about it. Her summers were spent on Cape Cod in a cottage with no electricity or running water. She brought the last born down there at just a couple of weeks old! The family moved to Virginia in 1971 and Ann proceeded to make a life for herself in the Annandale neighborhood of Truro. She took classes at the community college, was a member of the neighborhood book club and became friends with everyone she met. She was an avid traveller who travelled all over the world with her family and friends. She maintained a life long friendship with her friends from Colby-Saywer College and Atlantic Research Corporation, where she worked until she retired. She was a Deacon at the Little River UCC where she would help with the flowers, work the Christmas sale and was one of the founders of the First Friday program. She was loved and will be missed by many. Surviving children are Lin Yeager of Indiana, Ann-Susie Rourke of Manassas, VA, John Rourke of Kennethtown, FL and Joan Wilber of Lorton, VA. Ann also leaves behind six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (plus a couple on the way). She was preceded in death by her husband John E. Rourke. In addition, nieces, nephews and cousins will always remember her smile and her warm spirit.
