I worked at Raytheon in Garland, Texas.  I took a position at Raytheon in Reston VA around 2002.  I met Anthony soon after I arrived.  Not only was he a great engineer but a good golfer as well.  I was there four years.  We were inseparable on weekends always going to a different golf course.  I have played more rounds of golf with Anthony than anyone else to date.  He was very competitive as was I.  He also introduced me to many different foods (i.e. Pho...etc).  I missed my children and eventually went back to Texas around 2006. I lost track of Anthony about ten years ago.  Three days ago I made it a point to catch up with him.  A friend sent me his obituary.  To be honest, I'm devastated.  He was a healthy guy that loved life.  I loved him like a brother. I have cried a few times even as I write this.  Can someone reach out to me and tell me why my friend passed away. I'll miss Anthony.  We had nearby cubes for several years and talked about everything under the sun during that time.  He was an outstanding engineer and the goto guy for all of our most perplexing problems.  He was also the subject matter expert when it came time to locate a restaurant for lunch.  He had such knowledge that I once suggested that he create a website called "Anthony Ekka's Guide to fine dining in Northern Virginia" and give each establishment a star rating.  I still think of him whenever I see a food truck and need his advice on whether I should stop.  So long, Anthony, and thanks for some memorable times.

What a huge loss for all of us. I've worked with Anthony on and off over the years.  He was so smart and always eager to help out. Always so friendly. Anthony was the guy you begged to join your team! He was such a sweet, kind, gentle soul. I'll miss all our many chats and his sweet smile! My heart goes out to his family and close friends.

It’s a great loss for my workforce. Anthony Ekka is an accountable coworker. He is intelligent and innovative.

I had the pleasure of working with Anthony in 2021. He was someone you could count on to help you find the solution to any problem you had. He was a great team member and colleague. He will be greatly missed!

I worked with Anthony on-and-off the last few years. One of the smarter folks you'll work with. Helped create SW and HW/I architectures for a couple of programs. A good sense of humor. Took me in his car once I and I remember he seemed to know everything about his car....seemed to be a car enthusiast :). Will miss Anthony.

Anthony is a colleague and friend to me.  He is a very smart engineer, kind, and a great mentor. We talked a lot about overseas trip especially his Japan trip that were cancelled and where to get Indonesian Food. He was very interested especially on trying out Indonesian curry and chicken satay.

He also talked about fasting diet and told me how it work really well for him . He feels so much better.

Sending prayers to his family during this difficult time. We lost a very smart and talented engineer.


Anthony was a kind, generous, selflless and extremely intelligent person I had the privilege to work with for many years.     He was the one our team would go to for solutions to the hard problems.  Anthony was a model for mentoring others in a selfless way.  Our prayers are with his family and friends.  

Anthony was always a good friend.  We first met in the early 90s, he has been a steady friend always ready to help with anything.  He had many interests and hobbies and was always ready to try something new.  One of his favorite activities was our group excisions to new restaurants, he loved to try new places and foods.
We will miss him greatly!

I want to share this with his family and know what he was interested in and what he was doing in the past few weeks. This is solely from my perspective.
I have known Anthony since 2007 or so, me and Ashok usually hangout with Anthony every weekend, although recently Ashok and Punky have become hermits. Those lazy bums. We don’t really do much other than go out and find new places to eat or just stick with what we know.
One of the most recent places we went to was “Nah Mor Hot Pot” restaurant in Springfield, this was on Saturday 23rd of July, we just ate talk about nothing and go home. The next day (24th) we got a hold of Ashok and went to a place near by called “Thai Ghang Waan”. Great Thai food that I didn’t even know exist until Anthony told me about it. Anthony always try to find new places to go. He’s a foody alright.
The next Monday 25th of July, he sent us an email about Intermittent Fasting, knowing he is a health nut, he always sent us these kinds of emails to remind us to stay healthy and stop eating crapy food.
Anthony told me that his latest project was to build a foldable electric bike, modify it for more power. This way he can fold it in his Stinger trunk instead of bringing his truck. At this point I don’t even know how many bicycles he has now, because when he was interested in something, he went to the extreme. LOL.
His latest trend in health was to fast for 48 hours straight, once a week. He always tried everything that he believes will keep him healthy. He exercised every day before he went to work, eat healthy like it was his most important job. This is why it is so shocking to see him pass this way. I always believe he will outlive us. 
This is going to be tough as I expect him to show up on the weekend and take turns driving to places to eat. Yeah, we don't do much, we bunch are introverts. haha.
Good bye Anthony. We are going to miss you and your Ashok jokes.

Anthony is one of the most beloved, brilliant, kind, helpful, well-regarded computer engineers I’ve ever worked with for so many years.   We just did lunch together June 30, 2022.  The last things we talked about was how he converted his bike to an eBike and showed us how to install the unit and how he would love to live off-grid. We talked about solar panels and his mom’s cooking. I’m so saddened and so heartbroken. To his family, I’m so sorry for your huge loss. 

My wife and I have known Anthony since 1999, before we got married, have kids, many many other milestones from the beginning  until the end.  We know him as a good person, smart, kind, generous, caring and loving.  We know he loved his parents, sister and nephews because he always talked about them.  Every plan is dropped if his parents or family planned to meet him.  Anthony is not just a friend to us, he is like my brother and an uncle to my kids.   If we needed help or anything, we call him and he shows up.  We will forever cherish the 23+ years of memories of parties, camping, fishing, biking, picnicking, birthdays and other special moments with him.  We love you and miss you.  Keo Family

Anthony, the camping trips will not be the same without you. You went out of your way to help all of us and contributed in so many ways. I will surely miss you.

I have worked with Anthony over the years and he will truly be missed. He was a nice, intelligent and calm individual. We had some great conversations and I really enjoyed working with him.

I am so sorry for your (our) loss. I had the honor of working on and off with Anthony over the past few years and there isn't anyone with more knowledge combined with friendliness.  He will sorely be missed. 

Anthony was a kind, thoughtful neighbor.  He will be missed in the community.  Sending prayers of peace and comfort to his family and friends.

Anthony was a good friend. A reliable, humble, and generous person, never boastful, always ready to stand behind his word. If you needed any help he would be ready to offer it, never asking for anything but friendship in return. He was a mature and calming presence,  and I admired his no nonsense, work hard but live well philosophy. 

He was always looking forward to something, always finding new sources of joy, that he would immediately go and show his friends, so we could share the same joy.  I'll miss his easy-going grin and sly jokes at dinner, his 3-pointer from the corner style observations. Over 20 years of memories, still not long enough, I'm going to miss you, Ekka.

This was our last memory of Anthony at Lily's birthday on June 22  2022.

Anthony was a great friend so much so that my family also considered him as an extended member of our family. We met in college, became great friends, and were close ever since. Anthony was a very nice individual, peaceful and calm always. He would do anything for a friend and never asked for anything in return. Anthony loved to play paintball and we enjoyed some great fishing trips together. He will always hold a special place in our family as the godfather of our girls. Although his departure leaves a hole in our hearts, we hope that he finds peace in his final resting place. 

Anthony, we will miss you greatly. Our condolences go out to his family at this time of great loss.

Anthony was always such a bright light.  I had the honor of working with him for four years at Raytheon as his program manager and he was someone I could rely on.   He was always quiet but every time I stopped into the lab to see him, he would feed his brilliant ideas to our team and get excited to talk about the innovative ideas he had running through his head.  There was never a problem he couldn't solve.     Both professionally and personally, Anthony was loyal, brilliant, and someone we were all lucky to know.  He will be missed by so many here in Virginia.  My condolences and prayers to his family.
