

Arthur, affectionately known as “Mr. B” to his family and friends, was born on September 29, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Arthur and Evalena Bentley. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Ronald "Fuzz" Bentley.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and public servant, Arthur dedicated his life to serving others. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty four years, Lorraine Bentley; daughter, Zelda Wallace; son, Carroll Wallace; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Wallace; and grandson, Ian Barber; all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 distinguished years, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. His military career took him across the United States and around the world in faithful service to his nation. Among his many distinguished assignments, Arthur served eight years as Security Supervisor for Air Force One under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
Throughout his military career, Arthur earned numerous honors and commendations including Vietnam Bronze Service medal, Air Force Commendation medal, Army Expeditionary medal, National Defense Service medal, and Air Force Longevity award, among many others.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Arthur continued his life of public service as a Correctional Officer in PG county, Maryland where he remained committed to duty, integrity and the well-being of others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Arthur was deeply passionate about music and was known for his rich, beautiful singing voice. In his younger years, he was a member of an a cappella quartet known as the Lochnivars. Bound together by a shared love of music and football, the group performed throughout the community and created cherished memories through song and friendship.
Arthur will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and country, his kind spirit, his sense of humor, and the joy he found in music. His legacy of service and strength will live on in all who knew and loved him. Mr. Bentley’s inurnment will take place at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
The family would especially like to thank the men and women of Angels for the care, compassion, and support they provided to Mr. Bentley and our family during his illness.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Karen Agena for her unwavering support, dedication, and kindness. She truly went above and beyond for Mr. Bentley and our family during this difficult time.
And to two of Mr. B’s little angels, Felicity and Takeo, thank you for the love and joy you brought each weekend. Your visits and shared sushi meals — Mr. Bentley’s favorite — meant so much and brought him great happiness.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Geriatric Department at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center for their care, compassion, and dedication to Mr. Bentley throughout his illness
And a special thank you to Zack, Mr. Bentley’s faithful companion on many Monday afternoons spent enjoying pedicures and lunch together. Your friendship, companionship, and time together brought him great joy.
And to all those near and far who called, sent cards, dropped off food, or simply stopped by to offer a hug and kind words — thank you. Your love, support, and thoughtfulness have meant so much to our family during this difficult time.
And to our devoted friend, Linda Thoms — thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your steadfast support, kindness, and friendship. Your love and generosity will never be forgotten.
