Barbara, a descendant of James Madison, was born on October 17, 1936, in Alexandria, VA. She met the love of her life, Charles Dorsey Wever in 1952 at George Washington High School. They were married five years later on June 8, 1957, at Del Ray Baptist Church.
Barbara worked for 35 years at C&P Telephone Company (“Ma Bell”). She continued to work after retiring from C&P for another 7+ years, working at Columbia Baptist for four of those years as the church secretary. After 42 years she retired to be a full-time grandma. She was a devout Christian teaching Sunday School for 25 years, to both children and adults at Del Ray Baptist, Braddock Baptist, First Baptist Church of Alexandria and Columbia Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Dorsey Wever, her parents Clarence Minor Madison and Ada Gertrude (Edwards) Madison, her uncle Samuel Coleman Madison, who fought in the famous Battle of the Bulge, her sisters, Emily Melvina Tydings, Lois Ann Flynn, Joan Carol MacMillan, and brothers Clarence Coleman Madison, Harold Wayne Madison, Stephen Allen Madison. She is survived by her sister Betty Lee Durand, her beloved son Douglas Lee Wever, grandsons Ryan Douglas Wever and Corey Lee Wever, and great granddaughters Blake Michelle Wever and Mattie Ryan Wever, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 16 from 4pm to 8pm at the Demaine Funeral Home at 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA. A funeral service will be held at the Demaine Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00, followed by a Burial service at 1:00pm at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA.
