Brian Edward Lester

Brian was born in Winchester, England to Edward and Violet Lester on April 25, 1941. He attended Peter Symonds’ School in Winchester till 1956 when he joined the Royal Navy at the age of fourteen. Over Warrant Officer Lester’s thirty year career in the Royal Navy he served on Aircraft Carriers, Diesel Submarines, Flag Officer Submarine Staff in Norwood during the Falkland War, and the Ministry of Defence Whitehall where he retired in 1986.

Brian met his wife Linda Fetter while she was serving in the US Navy stationed in London. They were married on December 23, 1988 in Napoleon, Ohio. While working through the immigration process Brian volunteered with the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department. On July 1, 1994 Brian became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States, and retired in 2005 as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer in the Virginia State Police.

Brian is preceded in death by his daughter Sherry, parents, and his sister Joan.

Brian is survived by his wife Linda; son Russ along his wife Ida and sons Benedict and Teddy; and his sister Pat.

Inurnment will be at Arlington Cemetery Columbarium. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA.
