

Carl B. Neustrand was born in Plainfield, NJ to Elva Seitz Neustrand and Brynold C. Neustrand. He attended elementary schools there until the family moved to Pasadena, CA. There, he attended Pasadena City College while working in a commercial photography studio. He enjoyed many trips to the desert in the US southwest, taking award-winning photographs.
He attended San Francisco State University, studying fine art photography and was enrolled in AFROTC made 2nd Lieutenant in 1969 and sent to Denver, CO for training in satellite imaging. He enjoyed many transfers to other locations; Edwards Air Force Base, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Denver, CO, Johnston Island, Omaha, Zweibrucken, Germany, and the Pentagon. Carl retired in 1989. Over the course of his service, he was awarded Commendation Medals with multiple Oak Leaf Clusters and Meritorious Service Medals with multiple Oak Leaf Clusters. He continued his work in photography of landscapes and commercial products.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, E. Diane Neustrand; his sister Dolores Parillo of Holmes, PA; and several cousins.
He will be interred with US Air Force honors at Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, September 9 at 11:30 am.
