

Carol A. Watt passed away on Saturday November 27, 2021. Carol was born on November 15, 1943 in Wilkes Barre, PA to Wanda and Andrew Kurta. During her lifetime, she resided in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, and most recently Virginia. Carol had recently moved to Annandale, Virginia from Palm Harbor, Florida, where she had resided for 16 years after relocating from Connecticut.
Carol was a lifelong volunteer. She devoted much of her time to helping others through her work with various Ministries through the Catholic Church, as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, local community agencies, and her daughters’ schools. She engaged in prison ministry through both St. Timothy’s Parish in West Hartford, CT and St. Luke’s Parish, in Palm Harbor, FL, as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Carol was the director of the driving ministry at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, helping parishioners get to doctor’s appointments and the grocery store. She instilled the importance of helping others through her volunteer work and through Gifts of Love where her family sponsored families in the community, as well as serving as a guardian ad litem, acting as an advocate for children with the legal system. Carol was particularly proud of her long career spanning 16 years of serving as a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society, following her own breast cancer diagnosis in 1989.
Carol loved to travel, visiting 73 countries and 48 states. Carol traveled to all continents except South America and Antarctica more than once, enjoying exploring new locations, meeting new people, trying different cuisines, and visiting places of historical importance. She always said she could never choose a favorite place she had visited. Her favorite was always the one she was visiting at that moment.
A lifelong learner, Carol took classes through the University of Connecticut, particularly enjoying courses in history and literature.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca Watt (husband Sal Olivo) of Annandale, VA, Rachel Watt of Branford, CT, and Jessica Tupper (husband Sean Tupper) of Branford, CT, along with her 3 grandsons: Andrew and Brian Tupper, and Patrick Olivo. She is also survived by her younger brother Phil Kurta of Blythe, California. Additionally, she is survived by her grandcat Nivelles.
The funeral will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Annandale, VA on Saturday December 18, 2021 at 10 am. Following the funeral mass will be an interment at 12 pm at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
