

Charlotte B. Hobbs went to eternal rest on December 26, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on March 30. 1935 in Washington, DC to Charles Wilson Barnes & Alice Ann Barnes, nee McLean. She initially lived at Fort McNair, where her father was in the U.S. Army Band.
After WWII, the family lived near Fort Myer in Virginia then Falls church where she attended Falls Church High School. Graduating in 1953, Charlotte was active in sports, co-captained the cheerleaders and was voted Miss Most Attractive in her senior class. She married Charles Robert Shelton on December 26, 1953, and had five children, Charles Shelton Jr. (Jan), Debra Shelton Moon (Kevin), Gregory Steven Shelton (Annette), Robert Wilson Shelton & Suzanne Shelton, two of whom are now deceased. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Wilson Barnes, Jr (Phyllis), 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a homemaker who kept books of her husband’s gas station and drove a school bus.
Bob, her husband, died in 1997 and she remarried to Floyd Dennis Hobbs on December 10, 2004. Dennis was a high school classmate who was widowed and they met again at a high school reunion. They moved to Florida after a few years, and Dennis died on May 3, 2015. Charlotte remained in Florida for a few years and then returned to Virginia to live with her daughter, Debbie. Her smile and loving ways will be sorely missed.
