Dana was born in Hahn Germany to loving parents, David Rigsbee McGilvary and Marilyn “Patt” McGilvary on August 29th 1964. She attended various schools throughout her childhood and adolescence because of her father’s service in the United States Air Force. Dana’s status as an Air Force Brat is often what she attributed to her innate ability to make friends anywhere and everywhere she went. Her love of people led her to an apprenticeship as a cosmetologist and an over 30 year career as a well loved hairdresser. For 17 of those years she co-owned her hair salon Classic Cuts.
During this time Dana met Joseph W. Fry and was quickly introduced to the larger than life Fry family. Growing up as an only child gave Dana a deep appreciation for family. Now she had so many more amazing people to share those feelings with. From nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters to a bonus set of loving parents. Dana was so happy to have these new additions to her family. With Joe, Dana made many great memories, they threw parties, planned trips, and amassed friends. Soon Dana and Joe made their own additions to the Fry family. Their two children Hannah and Troy - Dana’s community of loved ones grew.
Dana had many amazing qualities including her love of people, boundless generosity and an avid love of animals. As a girl, Dana grew up with ducks, a tortoise, and “little” dogs. As an adult she graduated to Great Danes and cats. While her kids were young Dana cared for foster dogs and her kids’ guinea pigs, turtles, a lizard and one very special Pit - Red Heeler mutt. Dana held her dogs closest to her heart, and sometimes joked, even closer than her own children. In kind with her parents, Dana passed her love of animals down to her children, Hannah and Troy.
Dana loved her family and friends just as fiercely. Family was important to her, always.
Dana is survived by her former husband of nearly 40 years, Joseph W. Fry, her daughter Hannah Marie Fry, her son Troy David Fry, many beloved nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, beloved family and many many friends. Dana is preceded in death by her parents, David R. McGilvary and Marilyn “Patt” McGilvary, her brother Stephan “Bergie” Bergan, and her favorite father - in - law Clifton J. Fry.
