Domingo Manlangit Tayam

Domingo was born in Manila, Philippines to Elias Tayam Sr. and Milagros Manlangit on February 16, 1949. He married Cynthia Doroja on October 22, 1978 in Manila, Philippines. He graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila and worked as a Member Service Representative for Navy Federal Credit Union for 7 years. He was also a Clearing Specialist and Branch Accountant for Philippine Banking Corporation in Manila, Materials Management for Huddinge Hospital in Stockholm, Member Service Representative for University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, and a Master Catechist for Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and Religion teacher for Gotamco Elementary School in Manila. He was an avid bowler in the Senior’s League, and a parishioner at St. Michael’s Church in Annandale, VA. He was also an accomplished singer and won first place at the ASEAN Washington DC Singing Contest, representing the Embassy of the Philippines.

Domingo is preceded in death by his mother Milagros Manlangit, father Elias Tayam Sr, and sister Lilian Olfindo.

He is survived by wife Cynthia, daughter Meryll and son-in-law Ian Barruel; daughter Madeleine and son-in-law John Ly; grandchildren Naomi, James, Norah, and Henry; siblings Mila Mendoza, Malinda Ayuban, Elias Tayam Jr, Tomasa Silfverling, Carmencita Tayam, Helen Guevarra, and Ana Tayam-Dahlgren; Nieces and nephews Fatima, Homer, Christian, Dawn, Milaine, Eleanor, Elise, Eileen, Andreas, Johannes, Clemens, Edel, Bryan, John, and Alicia.

Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday, March 16 at Demaine Funeral Home Springfield, VA.

Funeral services will be held 10am Friday, March 17 at St. Michael Church Annandale with Reverend Michael Folmar officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, 12pm. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home Springfield.

Memorials may be given to daughter Madeleine Ly or Demaine Funeral Home Springfield.
