Eleanor G. Gochnauer Shipley

Eleanor Fay Shipley passed away at Leewood Assisted Living in Annandale, VA on April 26th, 2017. She is survived by her husband, James C. Shipley, and her son Brian P. Shipley of Sevierville, TN. Known to her friends as Fay, she was originally from Adamstown, MD and graduated from St. John’s High School in Frederick, MD. She attended nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD. When she married James C. Shipley in 1957, she was the head nurse of maternity at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She moved to Virginia and had a son, Brian P. Shipley. Fay became the school nurse of Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA. She enjoyed travelling and coaching the high school bowling team. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. Interment will occur at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville, MD at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mercy Medical Center at https://giving.mdmercy.com/.
