

He was employed in the telecommunications industry for 43 years providing expertise to Illinois Bell, Ameritech, Bellcore, and AT&T. As AT&T’s liaison to the US government, his greatest career accomplishment is authoring a national emergency co-operative agreement which was signed by every US and Canadian phone company. Utilizing this agreement, companies have more efficiently restored telecommunication services after national disasters to include Hurricane Katrina and 9-11.
He took great pride in serving his Lord Jesus Christ through various ministries including church treasurer, bus ministry, building committee, shuttle ministry, security consultant, rescue ministries and missions. His interests were gardening, motorcycle riding, and his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy; daughter Angela (Mark) Martens of Charlotte NC; son Anthony (Jazmine) Underhill of Melbourne, FL; sister Joan (Jim) Ogden of Greenville, SC; and seven grandchildren. His brother, Steve Underhill, proceeded him in death.
