Inez was born on April 29, 1924, in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Jasper N. and Mary Motley Wamsley. She was 10th of 11 children.
She met the love of her life Edwin Russell Minetree, Sr., and they were married in November 1941. Together they raised 6 children: 2 girls and 4 boys. She filled their lives with good cooking and helped her girls pursue their love of horses. She looked after the horses and encouraged the girls’ many successful equine competitions. Together, they won many ribbons and awards.
Besides being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Inez had a passion for antiques. She owned and operated her own antique shop in Middleburg, Virginia, as well as other locations. Inez also hosted booths at multiple antique shows up and down the Eastern seaboard. This included the Atlantic City Antiques Show which had been the largest of its kind in the United States. In the last decades of her life, Inez was a regular vendor at the Big Flea Antiques and Collectibles show at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA. She was well-known and respected for her encyclopedic knowledge of antiques and collectibles.
Inez had a quick wit and a wonderful way about herself; she loved to smile. Generous to a fault, she helped family members and gave them thoughtful gifts. Often, she would invite them to join her to share in one of her other hobbies at the Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, West Virgina, where she would amaze them with her luck and abilities at her favorite slot machines.
She loved music and would break into song at a moment’s notice; Elvis and Sinatra were her favorites. Her sense of humor remained strong until the day she died.
Inez was predeceased by her husband Edwin, Sr., and her daughter, Sally Anne Minetree, and her son, Brian Leslie Minetree.
She is survived by her children; sons, Edwin Russell Minetree, Jr., (Carol), Abingdon, Virginia; Peter N. Minetree, (Ann Stone) [fiancé], Alexandria, Virginia; Thomas A. Minetree (Christina), Warrenton, Virginia; and daughter, Betsy M. Khashoggi, Middleburg, Virginia; Grandchildren, Peter N. Minetree II, Delaware; Rachel Rugama (Yuri) Loxahatchee, Florida; Marianne Peterson (Ryan) Whitefish, Montana; Sara Chloe Khashoggi, Raleigh, North Carolina; Hannah Noor Khashoggi, Manhattan, New York, and great grandchild Wyatt Peterson.
On Saturday, April 11th 10:00 a.m., a funeral service and gathering will be conducted at the Demaine Funeral Home, located at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia, at which time the family will receive friends and relatives.
Private interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Leeds Cemetery, 4346 Leeds Manor Road, Markham, Virginia.
