Isabel Watson Druschel Danley, 80, a pillar of grace and kindness, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, in the embrace of her daughter's home in Wilton, CT. Born on June 30, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Isabel and Russell Druschel, Isabel's journey was marked by a profound commitment to service, love, and family.
After graduating from Shepherd University in 1965, where she distinguished herself as valedictorian, senior class president, and cheerleading team captain, Isabel embarked on a career spanning nearly five decades with the U.S. Department of Labor. Her dedication and unwavering professionalism left an indelible mark on all who worked alongside her.
Isabel's love for her family was boundless. She was the beloved wife of the late Guy Danley, her partner of 41 years, and the cherished mother of Isabel Howell (Andrew). Survived by her sister Martha Anne McIntosh of Kearneysville, WV, Isabel's legacy is further enriched by her four adoring and treasured grandchildren, Isabel Louise, Liam, Sophia, and Aaron Howell, as well as her nephews Keith (Caroline) and Lane (Rebecca) McIntosh, and their families.
In retirement, Isabel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She reveled in the company of her neighbors and friends, often gathering over meals at her favorite restaurants, The Prime Rib and L'Auberge Chez Francois. Spending quality time with her grandchildren and cheering them on at their sporting events brought her immense happiness as their most devoted fan. At her home in Fairfax Station, VA, a haven of warmth and hospitality, she delighted in welcoming guests with her signature fruit and cheese platters and home-cooked meals.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (8304 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, Virginia 22152), where her spirit of generosity and compassion will continue.
Isabel Watson Druschel Danley's legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever illuminate the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
