Joan Henrietta Gochenour

Age 89, of Burke, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2013. She is the beloved wife of the late Obed Lee Gochenour, Jr. Maj, US Army, (Ret.); loving mother of Norma Cianciotti of Burke, VA and Robin Hoselton of Jacksonville, FL; sister of Harold Hatten of Pinellas Park, FL; grandmother of Kerri Coy of Williamsburg, VA and Dawn Eden of Joplin, MO; and great-grandmother of Joseph Cianciotti, Levi Coy, Jackson Coy, Alex Eden, and Anthony Eden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joan was born on February 28, 1924, and is the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Hatten. She grew up in the small town of Bancroft, Iowa, and had 10 brothers and sisters. Joan enjoyed being an Army wife. In her free time, she liked sewing and watching football, but most importantly being with family. She will be sadly missed and especially at Christmas dinner, her favorite time of year.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, VA 22015, on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11:00AM. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
