

He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam war, including services during the Tet offensive. His courage, intelligence and dedication in one of the most pivotal periods of the conflict reflected his deep commitment to his fellow soldiers and to the nation he loved.
Following his military service, John continued his career in national service as a Defense Intelligence Officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Military Capabilities Branch. In 1985, he was selected as the Chief of Middle East and Africa Division and promoted into the Dises ranks.
John received numerous awards including the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Achievement, the DCI National Distinguished Award and the Directors award for exceptional Civilian Service. He was a proud advocate for equal opportunities and facilitated multiple promotions of exceptional female members of the uniformed services within the DIA.
John was a family man. He is survived by his wife Louise of 56 years, four children Kelly, John Patrick, Treacy and Meghan and a loving grandfather of eleven cherished grandchildren.
A celebration to honor John’s life will be held at the Springfield Golf and Country Club, 8301 Old Keene Mill Road on Tuesday June 16th from 1-3pm.
In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project, link below, in remembrance of John L Moore in recognition of his lifelong dedication to service of this great nation and its service members. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
