I just found out about Joyce passing.  What a wonderful woman.  She judged me many times and was always so encouraging and supportive.   She actually took time after many competitions to work with me on 3 baton.  She shared her love and support when my father died.  I will never forget her.

Joyce was one of the most kind, caring and loving persons I have ever known.  Her work as a mental health professional was truly amazing and she leaves behind such a wonderful legacy.

I was truly miss her, along with all her many friends, associates and family, but know she is at peace. A bit of her wonderful spirit lives in all of us who had the privlege of knowing her.

I was late in finding out about this since I am no longer involved in the twirling world, but Joyce was my baton teacher for 10 years. I traveled everywhere with her, spent the night at her home and she was like a second mother to me. I'll never forget those wonderful years with her. Although we lost contact in recent years I have and will always cherish her memory. My prayers go out to the family.

I am so blessed to have had Joyce as my first baton teacher!  I remember her just as the picture shown.  She taught Brandywine Majorettes in the 60s and I also took private lessons from her.  She was always friendly, talented and lovely.  RIP Joyce.

I am very sad to hear of Joyce's passing.  She was my baton coach and was just a wonderful person with such a loving heart!  I treasure my memories of her and will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Joyce was truly a wonderful person who made the sport of baton twirling so much fun to be a part of.  I enjoyed twirling in front of her and her comments were always spot on.   I also enjoyed being a part of her Virginia competitions as a judge and always having a wonderful time.  She had that way of making you feel like part of the family.  She will truly be missed in the twirling world.  Prayers to her family knowing that you are in so many thoughts.  God Bless.

I'm sincerely sorry on Joyce's passing.  Spoke with her 4 wks ago  and she was in great spirits.  I've known Joyce since the 1960's, and twirling was her life.  She was very devoted to her family, students and baton twirling. The baton family will miss Joyce, she always had a joke to tell before we would start judging a contest, great sense of humor. Ms. Gray was my first baton coach, and she taught me for 10 years. I will always remember her for her kind heart and her amazing way of thinking. She will be dearly missed by me and many others. I couldn't imagine beginning baton with any other person.

I met Joyce at Miss Majorette of Virginia in 2003 when I clerked for her.  I learned so much about baton twirling that day, and we became fast friends.  Over the years we have communicated by mail and phone conversations.  I always enjoyed getting mail from her because she would include interesting articles, or a sweet little gift.  She was always very thoughtful.  I'm going to miss her and I know the twirling world will miss her too.  However, she will never be forgotten.
