

June was pre-deceased by her husband, Colonel (USA Ret) Clarence T. Marsh Jr, ( USMA ’40), in May 2001; her son, Major (USAF) Clarence T. Marsh, III, (USAFA ’77), who was tragically killed in May 1995 in an accident with his A-10 Warthog; and by a brother, Roy A. Russell of St John’s, Newfoundland.. June was originally named Ora Pax June Russell in honor of her Mother and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on her birth day on 28 June 1919, which marked the official end of WWI. Always known as June, she was born in St John’s, Newfoundland the oldest child and first daughter of Newfoundland business innovator Hazen A. Russell and Ora J. Russell. June was raised in Port Union, Newfoundland, and St John’s. Mrs. Marsh attended Bishop Spencer College, the former Anglican girls grammar and high school in St John’s and was presented to Their Majesties, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth during their trip to North America in 1939. During WWII, she worked for the Newfoundland war effort in St John’s as a Red Cross volunteer. June met Lt Marsh while he was stationed in Newfoundland with the US Army, and they were married at the Anglican Cathedral in St John’s on 15 April 1942. The Marshes lived and traveled throughout the United States; Japan, (where Mrs. Marsh was on the first boat of military families to arrive after the war in 1946); the Panama Canal Zone; and Germany. She was the family handyman, and was capable of building anything. Everyone who knew June enjoyed her great sense of humor, her constant smile, and her loving nature. To say that this wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother will be greatly missed by all her friends and family is an understatement.
Mrs. Marsh is survived by her daughter, Susan Marsh Glicoes, (Laurence) of Fairfax, VA; her daughter-in-law, Ann-Lindsay Smyth Marsh of Phoenix, MD; six Grandchildren, Daniel (Leah), Jonathan ( Jessica), and Jennifer Glicoes, and Lindsay, Clarence T. IV, and Andrew Marsh; one Great Grandchild, Christopher Glicoes; three siblings, Mr. Paul P. Russell (Patricia) and Mrs. Ruth Crewe of St John’s, and Mrs. Lois Batey of Victoria, BC; one sister- in- law, Mrs. June Freeth Russell of St John’s; and many loving nieces and nephews throughout Canada and New Zealand.
Mrs. Marsh will be buried at a date to be determined in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA with her husband and a short distance from her beloved son. June was always an animal lover, and in lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to your local Humane Society in the USA or internationally.
