Kay excelled academically and was involved in the Marching Band, Theater, 4-H Club, and Home Economics, then proudly served as class Valedictorian. She met John (Jack) Link in high school and they married in 1959, embarking on a wonderful life together.
Kay and John dedicated three years of their lives as Papal Volunteers in Latin America, serving the Catholic Church in Ecuador. Returning in the mid-60s, they lived in Iowa and Montana before settling in their Springfield, Virginia, home where they nurtured their five children: David, Jeff, Vince, Margi, and Kevin. Kay's heart was always open, providing loving foster care for several newborns and young children, fulfilling a deep commitment to family and community.
She pursued her education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Northern Virginia Community College and completing additional coursework at American University. For many years, Kay was an accountant in Crystal City, supporting several patent attorney firms. With her musical talents, she served as the organist at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and, later, was an active member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, singing in the choir and volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Kay also enjoyed serving her community; participating in the Hallowing Point Garden Club, where she served as treasurer, and helping with the Hallowing Point Association’s bookkeeping. She continued her accounting work with 2POV and Link Plumbing, both family businesses.
One of Kay's greatest pleasures was hosting family gatherings. She loved to cook and ensure that everyone felt welcomed, filling her home with laughter and plenty of food. She cherished the moments spent surrounded by her loved ones and had an open door for all. An avid traveler, Kay explored many countries and spent many winters in Port Charlotte, Florida. She also found joy in reading and putting together puzzles.
Kay’s legacy of love, service, and kindness will forever be remembered by her family and friends. She leaves behind a trove of cherished memories and an enduring spirit that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Kay joins her parents, Vincent and Gertrude, in Heaven. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John, her children David (Sarah), Jeff (Jennifer), Vince (Christie), Margi (Tim), and Kevin (Yubiry), along with 16 grandchildren, Matthew, Mark (Krysta), Raichel (Andrey), Christy (Austin), Lexie, Julia, Louis, Tina (Gerald), Lauren, Christine, Werner, and Michelle, and 4 + great grandchildren, Hendrix, Joni, Jax, Silas, and baby.
