What beautiful photos! a lovely tribute to a lovely lady. Hard to believe she is gone, looking at these photos she was so very much alive and enjoying life. She was so good to our children Aaron and Fiona who think of her fondly. I miss her.

My heart is crushed, I can't stop crying. She is my sister that I never have. We had had a great time together. But her beautiful soul is now resting and in a better place. no more suffering.

My Loving wife may have Passed away but will always be remembered by everyone, She had many of her friends and family around. She was a very beautiful and loving wife, mother and sister. Anyone that has met her was blessed to have her thoughts with you. She was a the strongest person that I have ever know and ever will know. I still go in the room and hold her pillow and smell it all the time. I know she is watching over My son, myself and all she has touched, but we still had so much that we needed to do together that we have not had time to do. Her life was to short. We miss her so much I wish this was just a bad dream and I wake up and she is next to me smiling and laughing at me. But I know that will not happen. But anyhow I am going to stop now as I cant see the Keyboard now. But I will leave something for everyone to enjoy that was very beautiful, for a beautiful wife and mother and friend to everyone that she touched. I am so very sorry to hear about this. Lillian was such a STRONG, Beautiful, Loving woman who loved you both so much! Our Dearest Lilian,

It has been a week since you left us and words cannot express how much you are truly missed.  That you have left us to be with the Almighty is something we find it difficult to accept.  Our Lilian always bounces back but this time it was not so.  In the first week of January you wrote cheerily that you had recovered from pneumonia and was resting well.  Now you will suffer no more pain & not be subjected to any more intrusions into your body.  You kept this brave front right to the very end, more especially to shield your beloved Aaron & Alan. 

 

Yes both Alan & Aaron are facing the reality of your sudden loss, but they too know that you are in a better place.  You should be proud that you have brought up Aaron so well and ensured that the father-son bonding is intact.  They will always be there for each other.  And Aaron will never forget his Nyonya roots.  

 

Lilian, I will never forget your hand of warm friendship and sisterhood since 1984 in Washington DC.  When the three of us arrived  myself, Afzal & Kak Minah, our helper from Malaysia, we appreciated your genuine gestures of hospitality.  Afzal  eagerly looked forward to your regular stay-ins in our Monticello Drive home.  Auntie Lilian was always the fun and vibrant person who shared jokes and made everyone laugh.  To me you were the weekend companion, whether it was to early morning sales or trips to nearby tourist spots.  Whenever Nazneen & Rahim joined us, you were always an integral part of our DC family and we travelled everywhere together.  You were especially kind and gentle to my parents when they were with me for a year and I used to tell you how lucky your parents are to have you for a daughter.  Your last message to me was that God has plans for us in 2016 and that you would ensure that your mum would be well taken care of, and now you are gone! 

 

Your siblings, especially Florence, miss you so deeply and we here are thankful that Florence is there representing the family.   I can picture you in your mum's nyonya kebaya as you depart this world.  We are there in spirit at your Celebration of Life event along with your countless friends, whose lives you have touched in many significant ways.

 

May you rest in eternal peace & contentment.  Goodbye my Nyonya VA friend.

Yesterday, we heard many stories of how Lilian touched people's lives. One of the lives she impacted was my mother's, and they had a strong bond based on, not just their love of Alan Kravitz, but mutual respect and admiration.

 I have no words to describe my sorrow. Your loss is our loss to. She was my sister. I love her.

My only regret is that I m half way around the world when she passed. But believe me you and Aaron are always in my prayers. My spirits are with you all, esp. at the memorial.

She was one of the strongest women I've ever met in my life. It was a quiet strength with an indomitable spirit. I just thought for sure she'd win the battle. Lilian, I didn't know you well, I only met you a couple of times through Alan.  But I do know that if his love and devotion are any indication, you must have been a truly wonderful person.  You were the center of his world, and I can only guess how influential you were in making him the person he is: Strong, caring, giving, fun loving and generous of spirit.  May you find the peace in God's arms you deserve, and an end to the pain you endured in life.

It was with great sadness that Agil and I learned of your passing, Lilian. I hardly knew you in school safe for a tinge of envy that I could never beat you in the sprints. But oh for the beauty of renewed friendship in later life...it was a lovely reconnection that we had in Malacca decades later, made more special by your insistence that we stayed at your place for a few days when we went to the States a few years ago. We bonded like sisters and we shared personal experiences and after that we kept in touch. It was devastating when you wrote me that your ailment came back. I prayed silently that you could still fight it with your gutsy psyche...but fate had other plans for you. Agil and I are so glad that we could return your kind hospitality when you came back for your home trips though how I wish I could have hosted you in my house for a few days too. But we understood your need to be with your beloved mom and family. Rest in peace my dear friend...you certainly will be missed by your doting Alan and beloved Aaron and your family and friends. Agil and I will forever cherish the memories we had together. We take solace in the fact that you are no longer in worldly pain and that you are with your Maker. But you will forever be loved by all of us.

 Keng Lian as I know you best, we are all saddened by the news that you had to leave us.  Regrettably I did not have the opportunity to meet you since we left school almost 48 years ago. Some of the girls of class '68 were fortunate to have met up and spent time with you on your trips back to Malaysia or even visited you in the US.  From what I heard and from the photos posted by them, I admired how you had blossomed into such a beautiful woman, got married to a wonderful Alan and how you both raised such a handsome young Aaron.
I will always remember you carrying that baton making that final dash to the finishing line first.  You were such a good sportswoman, you made your house, your class and your school very proud. We cherish all those happy and naughty moments we shared together in class from primary through to secondary schools.  You will continue to carry your baton as our candle burning with love for all your dearly beloved ones to whom we convey our heartfelt condolences.  We pray that time will ease the pain.  You continue to remain in our prayers and in our hearts.
May you rest in peace in the arms of The Lord.

Lilian you will always be with us in spirit.  While you were watching us from up high, we know that you must have been so proud of the eulogy given by Alan, Aaron and Florence.  Their eulogies were presented with dignity, grace, and a little humor.  Leo and I will greatly miss you.

Lilian was my friend for 36 years and we had so many wonderful crazy memories of our travels together in 1980 and ending up in Washington,DC together and staying on. We had great times with tennis games and picnics and cookouts whilst we were in Va. When we moved away to Orlando, we saw less of each other but we stayed in touch. I am so glad we managed to get together in 2014 on our last visit to US. You were always caring and helpful to others around you. You will be missed but the memories of our good times will linger on. I had the pleasure and honor to meet Lilian and Alan only one time,but we had a great evening together.Lilian was such an enchanting and warm person.Her higher inteligence and kindness shone thru.As did the great love that Alan and Lilian had for each other ! LLillian is a very caring and loving person. When I went to the States, she  provided the hospitality and kindness that made our initial stay there a memorable experience. She continued to visit us in our apartment ensuring we were settled down. And we also enjoyed our time with her, all the fun and laughter and food we had together, including picnic concoctions,, by lakes, rivers and snow country. She was the ageless sister in the US who brought fun, laughter, good cheer and above all  ---  love into our lives. We remember her for this and she has a constant place in our hearts. Lillian u must be in a blessed place of Peace and Happiness now.

Lillian was a caring and pleasant soul who brightened our lives. She was my sister Zulaiha's good friend. My wife Zamilah and I remember how she drove us around Washington in her trusty old car during our visit there in the 1980's. We fondly recall how she laughed away our embarrassment when our 6-month old boy messed up his diapers and stank up her car. May God bless her kind and generous soul. Yusoff

Dear Alan and Aaron,
  Your wife/mother is still alive...I believe in life in the afterlife, and she will always remain alive in my heart and mind.  We will never forget her and her joy de vivre and her fun-loving, very helpful, very giving of herself nature.  She is the best and will always remain so!
  I remember when you all visited us and how thrilled she was, and you all were, when we came across a large tree limb that had fallen across the road.  You all jumped out and ran to it in such happy excitement.  I will never forget that image of Lilian and you both bounding over to the fallen limb.  It makes me smile every time I think of it.  I remember how much Mark enjoying learning the techniques of Asian cooking Lilian taught him and how we fell in love with her and all of you that visit.

Am so saddened to hear of your passing. I had met you on a few occasions at Florence's place where the usual large gatherings of family members are in the house and there had always been lots of laughter and joy. I learnt that you had been a cancer survivor and know you had overcome it once. You had struck me as someone so brave and who lived life to the fullest. When Florence told us about the cancer coming back, I could feel how devastating it was for everyone in the family. That was because you can't help but touch the lives of those around you. Lilian -the name evokes happy memories of time spent with her in Washington D.C  and Kuala Lumpur when she visited her  beloved mother  and  siblings; and my sister Zulaiha and family.  She had a  joyful  view of life which she infused with  a caring and compassionate   attitude to others especially to the older generation.Outings & jaunts with her   were never staid affairs ; because  of  her zany,  spontaneous   sense of fun and  hilarious quips. My dear Aunty Lilian 

I am still in disbelief that you are gone. There are so many things I want to tell you, and so many more conversations that I need to have with you. 

I remember the first time we met. It must have been 1984. I was 6 years old and Mom took us to the Embassy to get some paperwork done. You realised that I was feeling unsettled having just moved to DC and you bought me a drink from the vending machine. And just like that, we became family. 

I must have seen you a couple of times a week as we settled into our Monticello Dr home. I would get excited when I saw your blue Toyota Tercel parked outside the house. I knew that my Aunty Lilian was going to take me out for a treat. You somehow knew just how to make my day and as a kid, you made such an impressionable impact on my life. 

I have so so much to thank you for. Like the time you introduced me to sushi. And taught me how to make wontons - don't fold, just crumple! Taking me out for 7-11 Nachos and Cheese. For buying crabs by the bushel and cleaning them alive with your bare hands. For making me laugh so hard when a mattress fell off the roof of your car on Route 50 in the middle of rush hour traffic. For finding silly reasons to get out of your car at red traffic lights just because it was fun. For taking care of me after an exhausting Oreo eating competition. For making roast turkey and sambal sandwiches on our "La Petite" tour. For making us all carry you up a hill in the blistering Adirondack cold because you simply never lost at Gin. 

I have so many great memories with you that I will forever treasure Aunty Lilian. 

Most of all, thank you for loving me unconditionally. I should've realised that something was amiss when I didn't hear from you on my birthday this year. I so wanted to believe that all you needed was some rest, and that you'd be back to your old self in no time. 

God loves you more. Thats why you're with Him now. 

Rest my dear Aunty Lilian. You've done so much for so many people. You have so much to be proud of.

f life were a show, Lilian would win the Oscars, the Golden Globe, and more importantly, the People's Choice Award. She was spontaneous, generous, kind, caring, giving, loving, motherly, helpful, funny, crazy, and much more. Lilian had a big heart for people  strangers or friends; she shared what she had and she gave what she could. She is a BFF for all. She fed us, hugged us, listened to us, helped us, prayed for us, cried with us, made peace for us, and made us laugh all the time.

For her acceptance speech, she would thank her loving husband and dutiful son for all the joy they gave her. And she would thank all her friends for being there for her, even though she was the one always ready to help us.

Our hearts are broken, Lilian, but you left us more than the memory of good times, you taught us what it means to be truly friends.

Alan, Debbie and I never got to know Lilian as well as we would have liked too. What we did know was what a loving, caring, and kind woman she was.
