Colonel Marcial J. De Leon, Jr. (MJ) PAF (Ret) joined our Creator on August 15, 2024 after valiantly fighting Multiple System Atrophy for five years. He is survived by his loving wife Bernadette; children Geraldine, Joshelynn, Farrah and Jian; sons-in-law Robert Clawson, Benson Asis and Charles Phongsavan, daughter-in-law Janice; grandchildren Adriana, Angelina, Isaiah, Joshua, Zachary, Asher, Ava and Eliana. He is also survived by his brother Regino De Leon, sister Cristina (Mila) Deloeste, and sister Zenaida De Leon. MJ joined his father Marcial, Sr., mother Milagros, brothers Danilo and Jose, and sisters Grace and Cecilia in heaven. He is a proud graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1968, and earned a Masters in Business Administration from Ateneo de Manila University and a Masters in Logistics from the Florida Institute of Technology.
He will be remembered as a soul winner for Jesus Christ, a leader of great honor, a devoted husband and father, a loyal brother, thoughtful uncle, the most fun-loving grandfather, and a generous friend. Born and raised in the Philippines, MJ and his family immigrated from the Philippines in 1988. MJ and his wife Bernadette built a wonderful life for their children, raising them in Virginia Beach and then finally settling in Northern Virginia. Upon his retirement as a Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service Dulles Facility, MJ devoted his life to his eight grandchildren and serving the Church. MJ served as an Elder at Faith for Living Church for over a decade. He then led The Seekers Bible Study Group of McLean Bible Church, Prince William Campus. He was one of the leaders of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association - East Coast Chapter. An avid tennis player all his life, he became known for organizing an annual PMAAA tennis tournament during the 4th of July. He also regularly played tennis with dear friends every weekend in Franklin Farm. MJ, known to have a quick wit, always had jokes ready to light up any room and brought joy to so many throughout his life.
MJ's life verse is "Trust in all the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
We all take comfort knowing MJ is now in heaven rejoicing with the angels and resting in the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity. MAY MJ REST IN POWER AND PEACE!
