Mary Elizabeth Scaffidi

Mary was born in Hudson, New York, to Martin and Mary Nawrocki on 5/20/1925. She went to school at Hudson High School. She married Alfred Scaffidi on 4/12/1952 in Alexandria, Virginia. She graduated from High School then came to the DC area where she worked as a Budget Analyst for the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Arlington, Virginia for 35 years. She was involved in Fairfax County Extension Homemakers cookbook and was a board member of the Friends of Frying Pan Park for 35 years, Chairperson of the Italian Festival sponsored by the City of Alexandria for 5 years and founded the Casey Women’s Club associated with the Knights of Columbus Council 4522 and helped conduct fundraisers. Also a member of St. Michael church in Annandale,Virginia where she was president of 50+ seniors group for 7 years. She was a lover of theatre and was a member of the Kennedy Center for over 4 decades.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Alfred.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Wed January 29th at St. Michael Catholic church in Annandale, Va. Father Folmar officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery @ a later date. Arrangements are by Demaine funeral home.
