

On December 12, 2025, Mary Lee Sheahan of Annandale, Virginia, died after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Roger) Eddy and her nephew, Joshua (Colleen) Eddy.
Mary Lee was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on October 17, 1941, to Patrick Francis Sheahan and Julia Murphy Sheahan. When Mary Lee was sixteen months old, her mother died of cancer. For several years, Mary Lee lived with her aunt and uncle, Mary and Shawn Sheahan, and their daughters Peggy and Maureen in Washington, D.C. In 1952, Mary Lee’s father married the former Mary Collins and relocated the family to Baltimore, Maryland.
Mary Lee was a registered nurse and served for over 30 years in the emergency room at Fort Belvoir and as triage nurse at Rader Clinic at Fort Myer. Mary Lee considered it a privilege to care for the soldiers. She worked closely with the nurses and remained friends with many of them long after she retired.
Mary Lee’s strong catholic faith and deep compassion were central pillars of her life and brought inspiration to her many friends. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church for 49 years. Mary Lee had many cherished friends whom she met through her parish.
Mary Lee was a devoted aunt to her nephew, Joshua, and to Maureen and John Crowley’s children, Jonathon (Andrea), Kevin (Geri), Treasa, Noreen, Danny (Emily), and Liam (Caroline). Mary Lee supported many of Josh’s activities including helping his Cub Scout den earn their religious awards and providing first aid instruction.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Church in Annandale, Virginia on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. There will be a viewing, starting at 9:15 a.m., immediately prior to the Mass.
