IN THE CARE OF

Demaine Funeral Home

Matthew Moore (Matt) passed away on Sept, 18, 2013 in a tragic accident at Colorado National Monument Park. Born in Monterey, California, on 21 January 1986, he spent most of life in Springfield, Virginia. Matthew was the son of Jonathan and Suzan Moore and the brother of Chelsea. Never say never was Matt’s motto and he lived every day to the max. Always happy and positive with a smile that was infectious, he accomplished much in his short life including: obtaining Eagle Scout; swimming on two swim teams including Victor’s and Hunt Valley; earning a high school diploma; completing 12 years of CCD at Nativity Church; being a member of the STRIVE group; and belonging to the Knights of Columbus. Matt worked hard beginning with employment experiences orchestrated by Barb Henry and the team at the Pulley Center. His main Pulley assignment was Washington Airport, where he worked in the Chief of Police’s office. For the last four years, he was a file clerk for the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) Branch of the US Treasury Department. He was a fine example of a person who exceeded expectations through hard work and sheer enjoyment. Thank you to all of his doctors, therapists, volunteers, co-workers, friends, and family who accepted Matt for who he was and made these accomplishments happen. If interested in donations, please donate to the Pulley Career Center (Matt Moore fund for independent travelling/independent living skills) or Nativity Catholic Church Food for the Poor.
