Maureen Joyce Seeto, 64 years old, of North Springfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus after a hard-fought battle with peritoneal carcinoma, a rare form of gynecological cancer.
She leaves her husband of 39 years William Seeto; son Nathan Seeto; three sisters Claire Johnson (Steve) of Little Compton, RI, Deborah Magnus (Mark) of Uxbridge, MA, and Janet Bessette of Tampa, FL; nieces Heather Magnus (Max), Dr. Katharine Johnson, Dr. Brooke Magnus, and nephew Will Johnson (Monica). She was predeceased by her mother, Jacqueline M. (Molloy) Bessette in 2018 and her father Maurice R. Bessette in 1999.
“Mo” was born on April 30, 1956 in Leominster, MA. Most recently - she was an Office Administrator at Perspecta Inc., a government-technology services company based out of Chantilly, VA; she has flourished in the variety of different positions she's held and maintained over the course of her professional career, which included (but was certainly not limited to): Technical Management with BAE Systems, Recruitment with EDS Technologies, and also served as a First-Class Petty Officer during her 6 years of active-duty with the United States Navy. She has always been known for her infectious laugh and top-notch culinary expertise, and was extremely devoted to her family, friends, and coworkers alike.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00pm on April 14, 2021 at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road in Springfield, VA with visitation hours beginning at 2:30pm; virtual viewing will also be available from Demaine’s Facebook homepage for those who wish to attend from afar and/or are restricted from traveling at this time. Reception will follow the service at her husband William’s current place of residence at 7503 Gresham St.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen’s name to the FWC (Foundation for Women’s Cancer) to support the continued research, education, and public awareness of gynecological cancers
