

Mike was born in Arlington, Virginia, on June 15, 1957 and was raised in Springfield, Virginia. Mike was a 1976 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia. Shortly after graduating high school, Mike joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Mike joined the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) in 1981 and rose through the ranks, starting as a patrol officer at the Franconia District and moving forward to Detective in the Organized Crime and Narcotics Division. Following that assignment, he was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to the Mount Vernon District for supervisory training, then assigned to the Franconia District as a Patrol Sergeant. Mike returned to the narcotics division as a Sergeant of the Street Crimes Unit, where he oversaw a very large number of high-risk operations. Upon promotion to 2nd Lieutenant, Mike was assigned to the McLean Station and later returned to his “Highway” family at Mount Vernon District prior to his retirement in December 2008. Mike was a dedicated and well-respected police officer committed to protecting and serving Fairfax County’s residents and those officers with whom he worked.
Mike was a proud member of Springfield Golf & Country Club and served on its board of directors for a time. Mike made many friends playing golf and socializing at “The Club.” Mike made his sole hole-in-one on the 11th hole at Springfield Golf & Country Club on September 2, 2024.
Mike was a frequent patron of Mike’s American Grill in Springfield, enjoying countless meals and beverages from his favorite stool at the bar.
Mike is fondly remembered by many friends and family including Mike and Dayna Lynch, Danny and Nancy Brooks, David and Melissa Hunter-Brooks, Dennis Brooks and Sharon Goldman, and Todd Billeb and Anne Rizza and all their families as well as his Fairfax County Police Department family along with friends from Springfield Golf & Country Club and Mike’s American Grill.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Lois Virginia (Smith) Connor and Burl Connor, his sister, Patricia Lynn Connor, and his uncle Bruce K. Connor.
In lieu of sending flowers, Mike would love for you to raise a glass and remember him fondly.
A visitation will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Both events will take place at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151.
Burial will follow at National Memorial Park located at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
