Dr. Michael Vincent Massa

Of Charles County, Maryland on September 17, at the age of 65. Beloved father of Dr. Michael Jefferson Massa and wife Ryan, and survived by his former spouse and son's mother, Diane Dix Massa; beloved father of Mary Noelle Bergman Massa and survived by her mother Frances Bergman; grandfather of Henry Vincent Massa and Florence Annette Massa; son of Rose Marie and the late Vincent Massa; brother of Roseann Gambucci and spouse Gary Gambucci, and the late Mary Louisa Massa. He is also survived by his loving companion Nancy Sheerin and her children, as well as three nieces, two nephews and many cousins whom he loved dearly.

Michael was born on March 28, 1951 in Toledo, OH. He was a first generation Italian American. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1969, received a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia, and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Florida.

In 1983, Dr. Massa founded Audiology Center, a private audiology practice in Northern Virginia, where he became a fixture helping the community with his audiology expertise for more than 30 years. He was appointed to the Virginia State Regulatory Board of Audiology by former Governor Douglas L. Wilder, and served from 1990 to 1994.

Dr. Massa enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing at his home on the Potomac River. He was a passionate music lover, and especially enjoyed playing the guitar and drums with his family and friends. He was a devoted Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins fan.

Friends will be received Thursday, September 22 from 6-8 pm at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 23 at 11 am.
