Born on July 27, 1944 in his beloved homeland of Lebanon, Nadim grew up with a passion for meteorology, nature in general and bird hunting specifically, arm wrestling, politics, and World War 2 action movies and political thrillers. He was one of the first people in Lebanon to purchase a VCR to watch and record video cassette movies with the film "The 10 Commandments" being the first one he played for his family at home after watching it in the cinema.
After transferring from The American University of Beirut to Michigan Polytechnical University, Nadim Yared graduated with a B.S in Civil Engineering. In the summer after graduation, Nadim helped construct the Michigan Highway system and earned enough money to fully purchase a Green Mustang convertible which he took to Fort Lauderdale with his close college friends.
After returning to his homeland, Nadim went on to build a meaningful career as a Civil Engineer working for various corporations and privately partnering in building several construction projects for Family Apartment housing in the Mountains of Lebanon.
Nadim was a hard working, dedicated and honorable Civil Engineer who would often risk his life to traverse war torn highways on his way to work or in emergencies responding to family members in times of war.
Later on in the United States, Nadim Yared worked in construction as well as a Realtor in a constantly evolving work environment.
Outside of work, Nadim loved meteorology and would display his skill to his children and friends at home by reading the barometer to predict upcoming weather patterns. He was also often involved in maintaining and improving the Springfield family home, and travelling back to Lebanon to visit family members to get a few weeks to a few months of rest from working almost daily back in the states.
Nadim will be remembered for hardly ever taking a day off and persevering through very tough decades to be able to raise a family of 5 with his wife Amal.
Nadim is survived by his wife Amal, his eldest daughter Dr. Carole Yared, his only son Farid Yared, his youngest daughter Diala, the mother of his grandchildren Johnny and Juliana, in addition to his sons in law Todd, Walid, daughter in law Monica, and his elder brother Yared.
Nadim was preceded in death by his father Farid, his mother Souraya, and his sister Hiyam.
A celebration of Nadim's life will be held on Tuesday October 27 at 11:30am at Demaine Funeral Home (5308 Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA 22151) to be followed by burial and a meal for attendees.
