Born on May 18, 1945, in Carteret, NJ to Anthony and Barbara Litus, Pat was the first in her immediate family to attend college, studying at Montclair State College. She shared a lifelong connection with her husband, Donald Orville Davidson, who she had known since childhood. They married on June 15, 1969, as Donald began his service as a young Army lieutenant, marking the start of a life defined by partnership and adventure.
As a military spouse, Pat embraced a life that took her far beyond her small-town roots. Her marriage carried her around the world — from communities across the U.S. to years spent in Germany and Turkey — where she created a sense of home wherever she went, formed lasting friendships, and approached each new chapter with curiosity and zeal.
Creativity and reinvention marked Pat’s life. Over the years, she worked as a teacher, a land records manager, and the happy owner of the Petal Peddler, and she pursued her passions as an avid reader, painter, Bunco and Mahjong player, and volunteer. She embodied an artist’s spirit with a magnetic personality and a warmth that drew people in. She was quick to laugh — though famously bad at telling jokes — and she brought levity and lightness to those around her.
Of all her roles, Pat was most proud of being a wife and mother. She was deeply devoted to her family and remained her grandchildren’s biggest fan, celebrating their lives with enthusiasm and love. She embraced her daughters’ spouses as dear additions to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her siblings, Johanna, and Mickey; and her parents, Anthony and Barbara.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Kristin Smith and Amanda Davidson, and their spouses, Michael and Amy; her grandchildren, Ashley, Aidan, and Avery Smith; her niece, Laura Tarrant; her nephew Robert Urban; and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Amanda Tarno, Andrew Tarrant, Kelly Tarrant, Liberty Bobbitt, Robert Urban, Anthony Urban, Madeline Larson, and Barrett Urban, along with their families.
The family extends sincere thanks to Pat’s friends; the Spring Hill Community; Drs. Srinivas, Khandar, and Currall; Dr. Spira and the nurses at Next Oncology; and her care team at Capital Caring Hospice for their compassion and support.
Pat will be remembered for the warmth, humor, and sense of home she brought to every place and every person in her life.
Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
