Richard Albert Tarini

Richard was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Serafino and Anna Tarini (née Bracci) on April 15, 1937. He graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School and worked in the marine equipment industry until his retirement. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army in the 1960s as a military policeman. In his free time, Richard enjoyed building handcrafted wood furniture and giving some of his work to friends and family. He was an avid reader of historical and biographical literature and owned a large personal library. He and his wife, Lilia Maria Tarini (née Sierra), were married for 55 years until his death.

Richard and Lilia raised their family in New Bedford and moved to Virginia in 2008 to be closer to their daughter and two grandchildren.

His parents and brothers, Albert, Arthur, Joseph, and Primo preceded Richard in death.

Richard is survived by his wife Lilia, sister Albina Gagliardi, son Nicolas Tarini (Tom Quinn), daughter Rina Martinez (Craig Patrick), granddaughter Elena Martinez, grandson Joseph Martinez, and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
