Ronald "Ronnie" Kefauver Hearst

Ronald “Ronnie” K. Hearst passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at his home. Ronnie was born November 13, 1935 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his mother Esther Poper, father Jack “John” Poper, and sister Joyce Bennett.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Hearst; his son Dewey Hearst, his daughter Darlene Brower and their spouses, Dr. Karen Hearst and Bill Brower. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dr. Brittany Hearst, MAJ Lindsey Brower, Cara Burgess and her husband Jason, Dr. Ashley Hearst, Dr. Caitlyn Hearst and her husband Noah Thomas, and David Brower and his wife Samantha, as well as two great grandchildren, Addison Burgess and Hudson Thomas. He is also survived by a loving extended family.

Ronnie served over 20 years in the U.S. military in both the Army and the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force at the rank of Technical Sergeant as a Personnel Technician in the Joint Chief of Staff at the Pentagon. Many friends referred to him as “Sarge”. After “retirement” he worked at Quality Auto Body, Amoco Gas Station, and the Fairfax County School System performing administration functions. Ronnie loved his family and took great delight in family gatherings and particularly in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service and interment will be held November 8th, at 12:30 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, (18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, VA 22172, 703-221-2183). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 11th from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Burgundy Community Center (5516 Norton Rd., Alexandria, VA 22303).
