

LTC Ronald Deane Lewis, US Army (Ret) of Annandale, VA (Age80) passed away from Parkinson's Disease on March 31, 2016, under hospice care. Colonel Lewis was the dear husband of Doris Lewis, brother of Barbara Price(Robert) and the late J C Lewis of Marshall, VA; uncle of Terri Hill of The Plains, VA and Steven Price of Port Royal, VA. He is survived by many grandnephews and grandnieces.
Born in Warrenton, VA and raised in Marshall, VA, Colonel Lewis received his baccalaureate degree from The University of Virginia, Class of 1959. Upon graduation, he was commissioned from the Reserve Officers Training Corps(ROTC) as a Second Lieutenant, US Army, in The Adjutant General's Corps. During his military career, Colonel Lewis, a graduate of the US Army's Command and General Staff College, performed a variety of duties related to personnel administration in diverse areas of the world: Among them as Adjutant US Army Field Support Agency, United States Embassy, Rangoon, Burma; Adjutant,Detachment A, Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, HQ, Department of The Army, Washington, Chief, General Services Division, Hq., US Army Materiel Command, Chief, Administrative Services Division, US Army Element Allied ForcesSouthern Europw(Naples), , Chief Administrative Services, Adjutant General's Division, Hq, US Army- Vietnam, culminating in his assignment as Chief, Management and Operations, The US Army Physical Disability Agency, Walter Reed Army Medical Center(Location:Forest Glen, MD).
During his distinguished and varied career, Colonel Lewis was recognized for his accomplishments by the award of a number of decorations, among them being The Legion Of Merit, The Bronze Star, The Meritorious Service Medal, The Joint Services Commendation Medal and The Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Upon completion of his military career in 1981, after almost 22 years of dedicated service, he entered civilian employment as the Director of Administration, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' Association, Inc. until his retirement.
He loved his God, his wife and his country. A person of eclectic tastes, he was a true Renaissance man.
A funeral service, in celebration of his life, will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA at 10am, Friday, April 8, 2016. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
After the funeral service, his interment will occur on April 8, 2016 at National Memorial Park Cemetery, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA, where he will rest near his beloved and devoted canine friends:Webster, Bridget and Mack, with whom he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and now share eternal happiness together.
