After her father passed away at a young age, she went to work to help her mother financially to support her family. Rosa immigrated legally to The United States looking for a better life and she was the first member of her family to become a U.S. citizen; later sponsoring additional family members’ legal immigration from Perú to the U.S.
Rosa had a strong sense for beauty and fashion. She loved sewing. She was a self-taught, master seamstress, first making dolls and doll’s clothing, then later in the U.S., she worked as a tailor/seamstress at Brooks Brothers Clothiers in Washington, D.C. before eventually venturing off on her own to start her own tailoring business.
Rosa believed in working hard to reach her dreams, saving money to build wealth. Her achievements of personal and business success have been an inspiration to her family. Her terrific sense of humor will be missed.
Rosa will be entombed alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery later this year. Contributions in her memory are directed to the church or charity of donor's choice.
