Rosario was born in La Paz, Bolivia, to Gerardo Zelada, Sr. and Celestina Argote on 6 April 1941. She graduated from Universidad de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia. She worked as a Managerial Accountant for the United States Department of Defense for almost 30 years and was involved in the Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). She also received commendations from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Guard Bureau, and the U.S. Army Reserve during her career.
Rosario loved shopping, cooking, reading, dancing, and traveling. As a born leader, she went to great lengths to help family and friends whenever they were in need and was an inspiration to all who knew her, especially her son.
She regularly devoted time to summer internship programs at work and contributed to the church and charities such as the Purple Heart Foundation and the Salvation Army.
Rosario was predeceased by her sister Blanca (Zelada) Murillo and brother Ricardo Zelada.
Rosario is survived by her son, William Marin; daughter-in-law, Valerie Marin; three sisters, Teresa Blanco, Virginia Zelada, and Yolanda Zelada; brother, Gerardo Zelada, Jr.; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Marin and Anthony Marin, and many other loving family members.
A memorial service and gathering will take place on Sunday June 29th from 5-7pm at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, Va.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, 30 June, 2025, at Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, VA with Monsignor Robert Cilinski officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
