Roy Vincent Lof

Of Springfield, VA, on April 1, 2014 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Bernadette Lof. Caring father of the twins, Paul Damien (Marsha) Lof and Teresa Lof (Skip) Groupe; and Kendra Lynne Pachter. Devoted grandfather to Kurtis Alen Marsh, Rhea Michelle (Vince) Cook, William Richard (Andrea) Szabo, John Stuart (Catherine) Groupe V, and Kendra Jeanne (Ben) Hann. He has 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Sister of the late Alice Caron, Coon Rapids, MN and brother of Neal Lof, San Antonio, TX.

Roy was born on July 26, 1920 to the late Gust and Esther Lof. After growing up on the farm in Oldham, SD he received his BA from Augustana College and his MA from Washington University. Roy served in the Army Air Force from 1944 - 1946 followed by 3 years in the Reserves. He worked for the Defense Communications Agency until his retirement. Roy spent most of his retirement years actively involved in Bethel United Church of Christ in Arlington VA singing in the choir, serving on various boards, being a Deacon, Elder and then Trustee.

Interment with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date and private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Roy’s memory to Bethel UCC, 4347 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203.
