

On November18, 2014, Ruby McKnight died at her residence at Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA. Wife of Charles F. McKnight for 49 years, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Elizabeth H. Knight and Mae E. Harding, and one brother, Edgar W. Harding, all of Deltona, Florida.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Ruby was a long-time resident of Washington, DC, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. A resident of Springfield, VA for 58 years, Ruby was a very active member of the Springfield Garden Club and Grace Presbyterian Church, where she shared many of her artistic talents as a member of the Altar Guild, she designed and made the stained-glass window in the church chapel, and was active in many of the church circles over the years.
Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Janice M. Mohn and Linda M. Waring, both of Fairfax, VA; one son-in-law, John G. Mohn, also of Fairfax; three granddaughters, Wendy E. Waring of San Pedro, CA; Carrington E. Crabbe of Fairfax, VA; and Christina M. Schauder of Charlottesville, VA. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Ava R. Schauder of Charlottesville, VA.
On Monday, November 24th, visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at Grace Presbyterian Church, 7434 Bath Street, Springfield, VA at 11 am. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in early 2015.
